Role Overview:
The Vice President – Business Development (Government Business) will be responsible for driving strategic growth and revenue generation from Central, State, and PSU government clients across India. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with key decision-makers, and leading end-to-end business development efforts within the government ecosystem. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of government procurement processes, IT services, and emerging technologies to position the organization as a preferred digital transformation partner.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy for the government vertical.
Identify and prioritize target ministries, departments, and PSUs aligned with the company’s IT service offerings.
Drive large-scale transformation deals and long-term partnerships within government and public sector clients.
2. Business Development & Account Management
Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and influencers in government bodies.
Track government tenders, RFPs, and EOI opportunities; ensure timely and compliant proposal submissions.
Lead bid management, proposal creation, and pricing strategy in collaboration with pre-sales, delivery, and legal teams.
Negotiate and close strategic contracts that align with business goals and profitability.
3. Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with internal technology and delivery teams to align offerings with government needs.
Mentor and lead a team of business development professionals focused on government clients.
Represent the organization at government forums, conferences, and industry events to enhance brand visibility.
4. Market Intelligence & Compliance
Stay updated on government policies, digital initiatives and procurement regulations
Provide insights on emerging trends and competitor activities to refine business strategies.
Ensure all engagements adhere to compliance, ethical, and governance standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / IT / Business; MBA or equivalent preferred.
Experience: 18–25 years of experience in Business Development / Sales in the IT services sector, with at least 10+ years handling government clients (Central, State, PSU).
Proven track record of winning and managing large government IT projects (?50+ crore range).
Strong understanding of government RFP, empanelment, and procurement processes.
Experience working with e-Governance, Smart Cities, Digital Transformation, Cloud, or Cybersecurity solutions preferred.
