• Drone Platform Integration – Expand the scope of drones DTM supports and methods of interfacing with them, via one of the following pathways (in order of preference):
1. Third-party app integration (Litchi/Spexi).
2. Direct SDK integration with specific drones.
• Large Volume Imagery Ingestion – Make handling thousands of raw photos reliable on unstable or low bandwidth links.
• Unified Upload Portal:?Provide a single interface that auto-assigns photos to tasks using EXIF/location metadata, eliminating per-task uploads.
• Resilient Upload Pipeline:?Implement multipart, resumable uploads to S3-compatible storage with automatic retries to withstand dropped connections.
• Quality & Coverage Assurance:?Detect corrupt or unsuitable images, flag spatial gaps, and prompt users for re-capture before processing begins.
• Additional Upgrades and Stabilisation: As needed.
Competencies:
• Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Front-End Development: Expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks for intuitive, offline-first user interfaces.
• Back-End Development: Experience orchestrating and streamlining data pipelines.
• Cloud Storage & Data Transfer:?Hands-on skill with multipart/resumable uploads to S3 (or compatible) and designing fault-tolerant data pipelines.
• Collaboration: Comfortable contributing to distributed, agile teams and engaging in collaborative software development (GitHub issues, code reviews, documentation).
Preferred Experience:
• Web Stack: 5+years professional practice with modern web technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript). Mobile native/hybrid experience is preferable.
• Drone Workflows:?Experience building or maintaining applications that interface with drones, remote sensing payloads, or similar hardware.
• Large Data Handling: Experience ingesting and QA QC’ing large imagery (or other) datasets over constrained networks.
• Cloud Services & CI/CD: Track record of deploying to AWS? (or similar) object storage and automating releases with CI/CD pipelines.
• Low Resource Contexts: Prior work delivering software to users operating in low-bandwidth or resource-constrained environments.
• Hands-on expertise with the Data Infrastructure side of things especially around Drone Platform Integration, Large Volume Imagery Ingestion, Unified Upload Portal, and Resilient Upload Pipeline.
• Experience with backend data infrastructure, and DevOps skills such as Cloud Services & CI/CD and Low Resource Contexts.
• Overall understanding of how to optimize and scale existing applications with heavy data loads
• Experience with optimization of the existing infrastructure of Drone Tasking Manager(DTM).
