Job Description:

Trigyn's direct government client has a long-term need for Lead Network Engineer in Baltimore, MD. (ONSITE)

Description:
The Lead Network Engineer plans, designs, develops, implements, supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots network hardware and software pertaining to the client's network environment. As a lead position, the Lead Network Engineer affords guidance and supervision to other positions performing the same tasks. As a "hands-on" leader, the Lead Network Engineer schedules and performs network maintenance, performs installations, configures network devices, and facilitates repairs and support. The Lead Network Engineer supports all switches, routers, firewalls and Ethernet technology. The Lead Network Engineer possesses a thorough understanding of LAN/WAN/Wireless architectures and designs, cloud networking and mobile networking.

Roles and responsibilities:
• Plans, engineers, designs, develops, tests, implements, maintains and documents Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks and Wireless Area Networks topologies and configurations.
• Monitors and optimizes the performance of the operational data network.
• Coordinates needs analysis; researches network hardware and software options; conducts labs and simulations; assesses the quality, feasibility and business risk of proposed solutions; and makes recommendations concerning the purchase of network hardware and software.
• Develops and implements data and communications network design and development, use, maintenance, end-user support and security practices, policies, protocols and standards.
• Plans, organizes and guides team members involved in large and/or complex network planning, design and development projects.
• Directs and coordinates all aspects of a network project.
• Communicates highly complex network hardware and software issues to senior management, IT staff, end-users and other stakeholders in clear and discernable terms.
• Ensures high priority requests are handled in a timely manner.
• Serves as both a professional and technical mentor to other network engineers.
• Adjusts personal work hours and logistics to support the network environment during various days and times, as well as travels within Baltimore city boundaries as required to install and troubleshoot network related issues.

Experience:
• At least three (3) years guiding, supervising and/or tasking network engineers and related support personnel.
• At least ten (10) years’ experience in senior level networking; routing and switching; network implementation and troubleshooting; and network design expertise.
• Approximately ten (10) years’ experience working in a large organization with over 3,000 users and over 10,000 network end points.
• Approximately ten (10) years’ experience with Cisco routing/switching, configuration/implementation involving Cisco Nexus, Catalyst core, distribution and access layer switches.
• Approximately ten (10) years’ experience with protocols and network troubleshooting.
• Approximately ten (10) years’ experience with network visualization tools (e.g. Cisco Nexus VDC, VRF).
• Experience with Cisco ACI.
• Experience with Cisco ISE.
• Experience with 802.1x in a wired and wireless environment.
• Experience with Cisco DNA Center.
• Experience with Cisco wireless products.
• Experience with Cisco UCS network and ACI integration.
• Experience with VMware virtualization.
• Experience with Cisco ASA and Firepower Firewalls.
• Experience with OSPF.
• Experience with Infoblox.
• Experience with F5 networks.

Education:
• Associate degree and/or related Technical Degree required.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a Technology related discipline preferred. (Years experience may be considered as a substitute for a degree at the discretion of client).

Certification:
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) highly desirable.
