Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead cross-team delivery execution across multiple product streams. This role is responsible for driving planning cadence, delivery predictability, dependency management, risk escalation, and stakeholder alignment across technology and business teams.
The ideal candidate will bring strong Agile program leadership, hands-on experience running multi-team delivery, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and facilitate Agile program-level execution across multiple teams (Scrum/Kanban/hybrid).
• Drive planning and execution cadence for Program Increment (PI) planning, sprint-level synchronization, and release readiness.
• Manage cross-team dependencies, integration risks, and delivery impediments; escalate proactively when needed.
• Ensure alignment between business priorities, product roadmap, and engineering execution.
• Partner with Product Owners, architects, engineering managers, QA, and business stakeholders to maintain delivery flow.
• Track and improve delivery health metrics such as predictability, throughput, cycle time, blocker aging, and release stability.
• Facilitate governance forums and provide concise executive reporting on status, risks, assumptions, and decisions.
• Coach teams on Agile ways of working, backlog readiness, estimation quality, and effective planning practices.
• Support release management activities including cutover planning, environment coordination, and go-live readiness.
• Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, root-cause reviews, and process optimization.
Required Skills & Experience
• 6-8 years of total experience, with strong focus on Agile program delivery and multi-team coordination.
• Proven experience as RTE / Program Manager / Senior Scrum Master in complex enterprise product environments.
• Strong practical understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and scaled Agile delivery models.
• Demonstrated experience managing cross-team dependencies, delivery risks, and stakeholder expectations.
• Strong facilitation skills for planning, alignment, and decision-making meetings across technical and business audiences.
• Strong experience with delivery and work management tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO) (preferred), Jira, or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical delivery status into business-impact language.
• Strong analytical capability in interpreting delivery metrics and driving corrective actions.
• Experience in release coordination across DEV/QA/UAT/PROD environments.
• Ability to operate under ambiguity and drive clarity, prioritization, and execution discipline.
AI-Assisted Program Delivery (Must Have)
• Demonstrated ability to use AI-powered tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent to accelerate planning, reporting, risk analysis, and communication workflows.
• Ability to apply judgment and governance while using AI-generated outputs for program decisions and stakeholder communication.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline preferred.
• Master’s degree preferred but not mandatory.
Preferred Certifications
• SAFe RTE (preferred), SAFe SPC, or SAFe Agilist
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) / Professional Scrum Master (PSM)
• PMI-ACP / PMP (good to have)
Preferred Industry Experience
• Enterprise product delivery in regulated domains (financial services, risk/compliance-heavy environments) is a plus.
• Experience with AI/ML-enabled product teams is desirable.
