Job Description:
Our client - a major utility firm based out of Westchester County, NY - has an immediate need for Governance Specialist. The particulars of the position are as follows.
Job Functions & Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and oversee the scheduling, preparation, and documentation of meetings for client’s enterprise portfolio review committee (EPRC), investment committee (ICOM), and HQ PRC to ensure alignment and compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
• Ensure the timely distribution of meeting materials, agendas, and related documentation to members of the HQ PRC, EPRC and ICOM.
• Review and perform quality assurance checks on materials being presented to the HQ PRC, EPRC and ICOM, ensuring that all materials comply with, and conform to, established criteria and compliance standards.
• Manage communications and provide detailed reports on the HQ PRC, EPRC and ICOM pipeline, status, decisions, and recommendations for both governance committees to relevant stakeholders and executive management.
• Maintain accurate records of minutes of meetings for both committees, ensuring they're accessible for future reference and in compliance with client’s record retention policies and procedures.
Skills:
• In-depth knowledge of governance frameworks and principles: The Governance Specialist should possess a comprehensive understanding of governance frameworks such as COBIT, ISO 38500, and industry-specific standards.
• They should be able to apply these frameworks effectively to design and implement a robust governance structure for the organization.
• Strong project and program management expertise: The Governance Specialist should have a solid background in project, program, and portfolio management to effectively oversee and coordinate the implementation of the governance framework. This includes skills in planning, organizing, and controlling portfolios, as well as the ability to manage resources, mitigate risks, and ensure the successful delivery of outcomes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement: Effective communication and stakeholder management are critical skills for a Governance Specialist. They should be able to clearly communicate governance policies and procedures, engage stakeholders at all levels, and foster a culture of accountability and compliance throughout the organization.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills: The Governance Specialist should possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify governance gaps, assess risks, and develop strategies for improvement. They should be able to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to enhance the organization's governance practices.
Education & Certifications:
• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related discipline is required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
