Job Description:
Our client - a major utility firm based out of Buffalo, NY - has an immediate need for an experienced Fleet & Marine Asset Specialist. The particulars of the position are as follows.
NOTE:
• This position requires travel to various locations to conduct training sessions, inspections, and inventory verifications.
• The role will involve working in various environmental conditions, including outdoor and marine settings.
Project Overview:
The Fleet and Marine Asset Specialist is responsible for the on-going inspection programs for fleet and marine vehicles, vessels, and equipment. This role also serves to train the operators and mechanics with fleet knowledge and skills necessary to perform their jobs safely, efficiently, and effectively. The Specialist will also assist the telematics monitoring and reporting systems and conduct physical inventory verifications to maintain optimal asset conditions.
Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Training Program Development and Management:
• On-going training programs specific to fleet and marine vehicles, vessels, and equipment.
• On-going curriculum and training materials that help operators and mechanics perform their jobs safer, faster, and better.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops for operators and mechanics.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments to improve learning outcomes.
• Collaborate with the Learning Center and Marine Infrastructure, as the subject matter expert to help roll out various trainings, whether developed in-house or supported by outside Vendors.
Inspection Program Development:
• Develop and implement daily operator check programs using CAT Inspect and QR codes.
• Promote a culture of proper care and preventative maintenance practices among operators and mechanics.
• Ensure that all fleet and marine assets are regularly inspected and maintained in good condition.
Telematics Monitoring and Reporting:
• Monitor and report on telematics data using systems such as John Deere Link and CAT Telemetry.
• Analyze telematics data to identify trends and areas for improvement in asset usage and maintenance.
• Provide regular reports to management on asset performance and condition.
Physical Inventory Verification:
• Conduct physical inventory verifications to ensure accurate records of all fleet and marine assets.
• Maintain up-to-date inventory records and report any discrepancies to management.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper documentation and tracking of assets.
Skills:
• Proven ability to learn and adapt to new software and technologies
• Strong technical aptitude with experience in managing training programs and inspection protocols
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Previous experience in fleet management, marine operations, or a related field is preferred but not required
• Ability to conduct physical inspections and inventory verifications
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Commitment to safety and ensuring compliance with industry standards
Education & Certifications:
• 4-year degree or
• Certification in fleet management or a related field.
• Experience with CAT Inspect and QR code systems.
• Knowledge of industry best practices for preventative maintenance and asset care.
• Experience with telematics systems and data analysis.
